Successful event at Zbrka Youth Club: Screening of an animated film and the EUCARES project local conference

Our recent event held at Zbrka Club brought together 40 participants, including young people, representatives of the local community, educational and cultural institutions, as well as active local civil society organizations. This interactive event combined the local EUCARES project conference with the celebration of our organization’s twenty-year anniversary through an engaging format that combined a quiz and the World Café method.

The EUCARES project aims to encourage young people to actively participate in peace-building and cultural exchange through a training course, a series of workshops, and interactive sessions that promote creative expression and social inclusion, exploring the power of storytelling techniques.

Special attention was given to the premiere screening of the animated film “GLOW UP,” created by participants of local workshops in Lazarevac in May 2024. This film is the result of the creative work of our young participants, who, through collaboration and the technique of storytelling about family heritage, which is part of the developed Toolkit, explored topics of social inclusion and radicalization. They used the medium of animation to convey messages of peace and tolerance. The animated film is part of a catalog of works titled “We Are All Stories,” developed by partners using storytelling techniques, which includes podcasts, stories, and testimonies from young participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Poland, Italy, and Albania.

The program was led by youth workers from Centrifuge, with special guest speakers Marija Đoković and Srđan Djumić. Marija, President of the Center for Social Innovations Centrifuge, presented the key findings and results of the EUCARES project, emphasizing the importance of involving people of different age groups and profiles in the process of building peaceful communities, led by younger generations as drivers and catalysts of positive societal change. Srđan Djumić, a history professor, spoke about storytelling as a powerful tool for understanding the past, as well as the importance of listening in building bridges between different generations and cultures.

This event, which actively engaged participants in discussions through the World Café method, was a great opportunity for networking, exchanging experiences, and creating new ideas that will guide us in future projects. Thank you to everyone who was part of this unforgettable event and to all who continue to support our work!
